Bass Guitar Education: My Musical Journey

My humble beginnings were cultivated by hearing my sisters playing clarinet and my neighbor taking guitar lessons. I would ride along and sit outside his lessons, listening to the classic rock and blues tunes he was learning. This inspired us to start a band, even though I had to use an old guitar with the highest two strings removed due to low funding. I made the most of it and transitioned to playing bass guitar, which truly kicked off my musical journey as I began to explore new sounds on this music platform!

My musical journey began with a focus on the recordings I had available at the time. I listened to The Police, The Clash, and Supertramp, which shaped my early musical tastes. I started collecting Guitar Player Magazines and immersed myself in the cutout records that came with them. Discovering the talents of Steve Vai and Stu Hamm pushed me into rock mode, and that's when I first heard about a local band called Talas. Billy Sheehan was a shooting star, completely unique like Hendrix, and I saw them perform many times; it was just awesome. This experience inspired me to pursue my own career in music, starting with local bands and gradually climbing the ranks to tri-state, regional, national, and even international acts. I've been fortunate enough to collaborate with artists like Aldo Nova, Pat Travers, and Alice’s Nightmare. Additionally, I studied bass guitar with renowned instructors such as Beaver Felton, Brad Russell, Tim Bogert, Dale Titus, Bob Magnussen, and Putter Smith, and attended The Bass Institute Of Technology to further enhance my skills on this incredible music platform.
